Itinerary
We begin our journey by exploring Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. Our first stop is Sukhbaatar Square, located at the heart of the city and surrounded by important landmarks including the Parliament House, National Opera Theatre, Cultural Palace, and the House of City Council.
We then continue to Zaisan Hill, which offers a panoramic view over Ulaanbaatar and its surrounding landscape. Our city exploration also includes visits to the National History Museum and Gandan Monastery, providing an introduction to Mongolia’s history, culture, and Buddhist heritage.
After the city tour, we transfer to our accommodation for the evening.

After breakfast, we leave Ulaanbaatar and drive approximately 300 km toward Amarbayasgalant Monastery, known as the “Monastery of Tranquil Felicity.” The monastery was once one of the three largest Buddhist centers in Mongolia.
Built between 1727 and 1736 by Zanabazar, the religious and cultural leader and first Bogd Khaan, Amarbayasgalant Monastery represents an important part of Mongolia’s Buddhist and cultural heritage.
After exploring the monastery and its surroundings, we settle into our accommodation for the evening.

Today we continue our journey toward Bulgan Province, traveling approximately 280 km through a region known for its green landscapes, thick forests, and magnificent pasturelands.
The vast grassy steppe provides important grazing grounds for more than a million livestock, reflecting the strong connection between the landscape and Mongolia’s traditional pastoral lifestyle.
We will visit Uran Togoo, an extinct volcano, before continuing to our accommodation for the evening.

After breakfast, we drive to Murun City, where we will stop for lunch before continuing our journey toward Khuvsgul Lake.
Known as one of Mongolia’s most remarkable natural treasures, Khuvsgul Lake is the largest lake in Mongolia by volume and the second largest by area. Its exceptionally pure waters have earned it a reputation as one of the world’s clearest lakes. The lake is also affectionately known as the “Young Sister of Sister Lakes,” referring to its connection with Lake Baikal in Siberia, Russia.
Upon reaching Khuvsgul Lake, we check in to our Ger Camp located on the edge of the lake. From the camp, the beauty of Khuvsgul Lake is just outside your ger door.

After breakfast at the Ger Camp, we travel toward the Tsaatan, or “Reindeer People.” The Tsaatan are a small community of reindeer herders living in northern Khuvsgul Province.
Reindeer play an important role in their traditional way of life. They are used not only to carry belongings but also provide meat, milk, and materials from their hides for clothing.
During our visit, we will have an opportunity to learn about the unique lifestyle of the Tsaatan people and gain an understanding of their everyday lives. We will have lunch on the bank of the lake before driving back to our Ger Camp.

In the morning, we drive approximately 380 km toward Jargaliin Jiguur. Located by the Ider River, the area is known for its river landscape and waters rich with different types of fish.
After the journey, we settle into our Ger Camp and spend the evening surrounded by the natural landscape of the area.

Today we drive to Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake, also known as “White Lake,” nestled among the mountains of the Khangai at an altitude of approximately 2,060 meters. The lake measures around 16 km wide and 20 km long, with exceptionally pure waters.
Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake lies within a protected area known for its rich biodiversity, where taiga, mountain steppe, and wetlands come together to support diverse wildlife.
After lunch, we visit the extinct crater of Khorgo Volcano, located to the east of Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake. Situated at an altitude of approximately 2,200 meters, the volcano has basalt-covered slopes and a crater forming an almost perfect cone approximately 200 meters in diameter and 100 meters deep. Its last eruption occurred around 8,000 years ago, making it the last active volcano in Mongolia.
We then return to our Ger Camp for the evening.

Today we drive toward the Orkhon River and Ulaan Tsutgalan Waterfall, a spectacular waterfall reaching approximately 24 meters in height.
The waterfall was formed through a unique combination of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes approximately 20,000 years ago. Its water level varies depending on rainfall, creating a changing natural landscape throughout the year.
There will be an opportunity to hike down toward the bottom of the gorge and experience the surrounding scenery before continuing to our Ger Camp for the evening.

After breakfast, we drive approximately 130 km to Kharkhorin, the ancient capital of the Great Mongolian Empire. We will also visit Erdene Zuu Monastery, an important treasure of Mongolian Buddhism.
Founded in 1586 by Avtai Sain Khaan, a descendant of Chinggis Khaan, Erdene Zuu was established on the ruins of Kharkhorin and is considered the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia.
The monastery houses an extraordinary collection of Buddhist paintings, priceless religious objects, special costumes used for Tsama religious dances, and impressive Buddhist iconography reflecting Mongolian and Tibetan styles.
After exploring the ancient capital and monastery, we continue to our Ger Camp for the evening.

Today we drive west toward Khustai National Park, located approximately 95 km southwest of Ulaanbaatar in the hills of the Southern Khan Khentii Mountain.
Upon arrival, we will visit the local museum and watch a video introducing the National Park. We then continue deeper into the park to search for the wild Mongolian horses known as Mongolian Przewalski Horses.
After exploring the natural surroundings of Khustai National Park, we return to our Ger Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, we drive approximately 110 km back to Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival in the capital, we transfer to your place of stay, marking the end of our journey through northern and central Mongolia.
