We begin our journey in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. Our first stop is Sukhbaatar Square, located in the heart of the city and surrounded by some of the capital’s most important landmarks. We then continue to Zaisan Hill, where we can enjoy a panoramic view overlooking Ulaanbaatar and its surrounding landscape. Our exploration continues at the Natural History Museum, well-known for its precious collection of dinosaur eggs and bones. We will also visit the Bogd Khan’s Winter Palace, which houses a valuable collection of artifacts associated with Mongolia’s last ruler. After a full afternoon of sightseeing, our guide and driver will take us to our accommodation for the evening.

After breakfast at the hotel, we drive west toward Khustai National Park. Upon arrival, we will visit the local museum and watch a video introducing the National Park before continuing deeper into the park. The beautiful natural surroundings provide an opportunity to observe the wild Mongolian horses known as Mongolian Przewalski Horses. Depending on the surroundings and wildlife activity, we may also encounter marmots, deer, and wolves during our visit. After exploring the National Park and its natural environment, we continue to our accommodation for the evening.

Today we travel to Bayangobi, a distinctive landscape where Gobi sand dunes, forests, and rocky mountains come together. As we drive through this changing scenery, we will have the opportunity to observe the traditional way of life of Mongolian nomadic people, who have lived for thousands of years alongside their herds of livestock. Along the way, we may encounter livestock peacefully resting in the middle of the road, offering a natural glimpse into everyday life on the Mongolian steppe. Upon arrival in Bayangobi, there will be an opportunity to hike through the sand dunes and experience camel riding. We will also visit Ovgon Monastery, the only remaining Buddhist “red head sect” temple in Mongolia. After the visit, we continue to our accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast at the Ger Camp, we drive to Kharkhorin, the ancient capital of the Great Mongolian Empire. The day is dedicated to exploring this historically significant area and visiting Erdenezuu Monastery, one of the important treasures of Mongolian Buddhism. At the monastery, we will see an extraordinary collection of Buddhist paintings, religious objects, and special costumes used for Tsama religious dances. The monastery also features impressive Buddhist iconography reflecting traditional Mongolian and Tibetan styles. After a full day exploring the ancient capital and Erdenezuu Monastery, we return to our Ger Camp for the evening.

After breakfast at the Ger Camp, we begin our journey back to Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival in the capital, we will have lunch at a local restaurant before checking in to our hotel. The afternoon will be free for relaxation and leisure after the journey. In the evening, we will attend a fascinating traditional performance featuring Mongolian folk songs, throat singing, melodies played on the “horse-headed” fiddle, traditional dances, and artistic contortionism. We conclude our journey with a farewell dinner at a local restaurant, celebrating the experiences and landscapes we have encountered throughout Mongolia.
