Itinerary

Upon arrival at Chinggis Khaan International Airport, the Juulchin World Tours professional team will warmly welcome you to Mongolia. After checking in to the hotel and taking some time to rest, begin your introduction to Ulaanbaatar with a visit to Zaisan Memorial, a hilltop viewpoint offering panoramic views over the capital and a monument dating from the socialist period commemorating the Second World War. Continue to the Bogd Khan’s Winter Palace Museum, which was once the residence of Mongolia’s last religious leader and emperor in the early 1900s.

The journey begins with a visit to Gandan Monastery, the center of Mongolian Buddhism, as we leave Ulaanbaatar. Continue towards Khustai National Park before travelling onward to Bayangobi Nature Reserve, where the landscapes of Gobi sand dunes meet the Khangai Mountains. In the evening, experience traditional Mongolian activities by practicing archery while dressed in a traditional Mongolian deel and enjoying traditional knuckle-bone games.

After a short drive, arrive in Kharkhorin, the historic capital of the Mongol Empire established in the 13th century. Although much of the ancient capital was destroyed during attacks by the Ming Dynasty, the Kharkhorin Museum provides an opportunity to learn about its history and former importance. Continue to Erdene Zuu Monastery, which was built using bricks taken from the ruins of the ancient capital. The day also includes a Mongolian traditional script calligraphy lesson.

Continue the adventure through the Khangai Mountain Range. Stop in Tsetserleg town for lunch and visit the Zaya Gegeen Monastery Museum. The journey continues towards Terkhiin White Lake, passing through the famous Chuluut Canyon. Upon arrival, hike to the ancient, extinct Khorgo volcanic crater. After exploring the volcanic landscape, settle in for the evening beside Terkhiin White Lake.

Continue driving through the scenic landscapes of the Khangai Mountains towards Jargal Jiguur Hot Springs. After several days of travelling and hiking, enjoy a relaxing time at the hot springs and prepare for the upcoming horse-riding adventure.

Today involves a long drive towards Khuvsgul Lake as the journey enters the taiga region. En route, stop in Murun town for lunch and visit the provincial museum before continuing towards the lake. Upon arrival, settle into the Ger Camp and enjoy your first evening in the Khuvsgul region.

A long journey awaits today as you travel through the Khoridol Saridag Mountain Pass. The surrounding mountain scenery accompanies the journey towards Tsagaannuur village. After this adventurous day of travel, settle into the local accommodation in preparation for the upcoming horse trekking experience.

The horse trekking adventure begins as you leave Tsagaannuur village on horseback. During the first day, cross the famous Shishged River and continue towards the Khodon River, where you begin to experience the simple lifestyle associated with the Tsaatan people. The journey continues into the remote taiga, where you stay in tents and enjoy simple meals prepared by local people. On the second day, arrive at the Tsaatan people's camp. On the third day, spend a full day with the Tsaatan people, learning about their unique lifestyle and traditions that have survived for centuries. This is the central adventure of the journey, offering an immersive experience in the remote taiga environment and a close encounter with the traditional way of life of the reindeer herders.

Leave early on horseback and begin the journey back towards Tsagaannuur village. After a full day of riding through the taiga landscapes, arrive at Tsagaannuur late in the day.

Continue the journey back towards Khuvsgul Lake with a full-day drive to Ashihai. This marks the gradual transition from the remote taiga environment back towards more familiar surroundings and the next stage of the journey.

Take an early morning flight back to Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival, spend the afternoon exploring the capital at your own pace before continuing with a city tour of the National Museum of Mongolia and Sukhbaatar Square. In the evening, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

Enjoy some rest in the morning before heading to the Chinggis Khan Statue Complex after lunch. The day concludes with a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
