Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake

Known as Great White Lake is lake in the Khangai Mountains in central Mongolia. In February, 2011 it was featured get away location on CNN.com. Terkhiin Tsagaan lake is a spectacularly beautiful lake with crystal clear water. The lava flows of Khorgo Volcanic eruption blocked the north and south Terkh Rivers and formed this beautiful Terkhiin Tsagaan lake at an altitude of 2060m above sea level. The lake is 16km wide, 4-10 meters deep with its deepest point at 28m and 20km in length. Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake itself, birdlife and mountains are now protected within the national park's restriction. The lake is perfect for swimming which has white sandy beaches.
