Day 1 Arrival in Ulaanbaatar
Upon arrival at Ulaanbaatar Airport, the Juulchin World Tours professional team will meet and greet you. After checking in, visit the Bogd Khan’s Winter Palace Museum, the former residence of Mongolia’s last religious and political leader, Bogd Jebtsundamba. Continue to Zaisan Memorial, a Soviet-era monument dedicated to the Second World War, and enjoy the panoramic view of Ulaanbaatar from the hill. In the evening, enjoy a Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant and prepare for the Mongolian adventure ahead.
Day 2
Begin the journey towards Western Mongolia with a drive to Khugnu Khan National Park. Before leaving Ulaanbaatar, visit Gandan Monastery and receive a blessing for the journey ahead. After approximately 5–6 hours of driving, arrive at Khugnu Khan National Park, where the Gobi sand dunes and Khangai Mountains meet. Visit a camel-breeding family and experience camel riding across the Mongol Sand Dunes.
Day 3
Drive to Kharkhorin, once the capital of the great Mongolian Empire and later an important center of Mongolian Buddhism. Explore the historic Erdene Zuu Monastery and visit the Kharkhorin Museum to learn more about the history of the Mongolian Empire. Continue with a calligraphy lesson and meet a local artist to learn about traditional Mongolian script. Afterwards, continue the journey towards Tsenher Hot Spring.
Day 4
Continue the journey towards Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake, also known as White Lake. On the way, travel through Tsetserleg city and visit the Arkhangai Province Museum and Zaya Gegeen Monastery. Continue towards the lake, stopping along the way at Taikhar Rock and the Chuluut River Canyon. Upon reaching the area, hike to Khorgo Crater and explore the surrounding volcanic landscape.
Day 5
Continue deeper into Western Mongolia as you drive towards Ulaagchin Khar Lake, a beautiful lake situated among extensive sand dunes. The Mukhar Khun River, which feeds into the lake, adds to the striking scenery of the surrounding landscape. Enjoy the peaceful natural environment before settling into the Ger Camp for the night.
Day 6
Continue the journey towards Khyargas Lake, located in the Valley of the Lakes within an intermontane depression. Along the way, discover remarkable natural rock formations, including Senjit Rock and Khetsuu Rock. The area around Khyargas Lake is also known for its water birds, which can be observed enjoying the summer around Khetsuu Rock.
Day 7
Drive to Ulaangom, the administrative center of Uvs Province. Upon arrival, visit Tsedenbal Square and the Uvs Province Museum. In the afternoon, spend time with a Durvud nomadic family and experience their traditional lifestyle and surroundings before continuing your stay in Ulaangom.
Day 8
Continue the journey towards Uureg Lake, one of the beautiful natural landscapes of Western Mongolia. Travel through the remote western scenery and arrive at the lake, where you will spend the night surrounded by the peaceful landscape.
Day 9
Explore the surrounding area with a visit to Hoyor Sair Waterfall. Continue the day with wildlife watching, with opportunities to observe argali sheep and ibex in their natural surroundings.
Day 10
Drive to Ulgii Town and explore the local area. Visit the local market and the Bayan-Ulgii Province Museum to learn more about the culture and heritage of this westernmost region of Mongolia.
Day 11
Drive to Sagsai Town, where you will visit a Kazakh family of eagle hunters. Enjoy lunch with the family and learn about the traditional techniques and skills of eagle hunting. Experience the unique culture and traditions of the Kazakh eagle hunters before returning to the Ger Camp.
Day 12
Take a flight back to Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival, visit a cashmere factory and discover how Mongolia’s renowned cashmere products are made. Enjoy a free afternoon in the city before gathering for a traditional music and dance performance. In the evening, conclude the journey with a Farewell Dinner.
Day 13
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your departure flight, bringing your journey through Mongolia’s diverse landscapes, historical sites, lakes, and nomadic cultures to an end.
