Long admired by researchers and travelers alike, the park is a masterpiece of untouched beauty where crystal-clear freshwater lakes merge with vast wetlands, desert steppe, and open grasslands, all framed by the snow-capped peaks of the Altai Mountains. This remarkable ecosystem is home to 136 recorded bird species from 38 families and 14 orders. Itinerary

Ulaanbaatar -Khovd

Day 1

We visit the Khovd City Natural History Museum and the Multi-Ethnic Cultural Center, gaining insight into the region’s rich natural heritage and diverse cultures. Later in the day, we travel approximately 60 km to KharUs Lake to receive a briefing on birdwatching sites, observation points, and the upcoming excursion. In the evening, we return to Khovd city for dinner and overnight accommodation

Khar-Us Lake

Day 2

Bird Observation & Tracking After breakfast, we travel to Khar-Us Lake for a full day of birdwatching, photography, and species recording. In the evening, we return to Khovd city for overnight accommodation.

Khar-Us Lake

Day 3

We continue observing birdlife around Khar-Us Lake, and after lunch, travel approximately 50 km south of the lake, exploring extended wetland and marsh ecosystems for further birdwatching and photography. In the evening, we arrive at a field ger camp for overnight rest.

Zereg Soum

Day 4

In the morning, we depart the field camp and travel toward Zereg soum in Khovd Province, stopping along the way to observe and photograph birdlife around small lakes and wetland areas. In the evening, we arrive at a field ger camp for overnight accommodation.

Baatar Mountains

Day 5

This morning, we travel into the high mountain zone to observe and photograph rare bird species and wildlife found in the area. In the evening, we return to the field ger camp for overnight accommodation.

Khar-Us Lake

Day 6

After breakfast, we travel toward Khar-Us Lake to photograph birdlife in the surrounding area. In the evening, we continue on to Khovd city for overnight accommodation.

Khovd-Ulaanbaatar

Day 7

Final Day of the Expedition Early morning departure from camp to Khovd city, followed by a domestic flight back to Ulaanbaatar, marking the conclusion of the expedition.
